Weave 3–5 Program Learning Areas

At Weave Childcare Centre, our 3–5 program is designed to support children’s whole-child development through play, exploration, creativity, and meaningful daily routines. Our goal is to help children grow with confidence, curiosity, kindness, and independence as they prepare for kindergarten and beyond.

Early Literacy and Phonics

Children are introduced to letters, sounds, stories, rhymes, and early reading skills in a fun and age-appropriate way. Through books, songs, games, and group activities, children begin to build strong foundations for language and reading.

Pre-Writing and Fine Motor Development

Children develop the small muscle strength and coordination needed for writing through activities such as tracing, drawing, cutting, painting, building, puzzles, playdough, and sensory play. These activities help prepare children for future writing skills.

Math, STEM, and Inquiry-Based Learning

Children explore early math and science concepts through hands-on learning. They learn about numbers, counting, shapes, patterns, measuring, problem-solving, nature, building, and simple experiments. We encourage children to ask questions, explore ideas, and learn through discovery.

Creative Art and Music

Children express their ideas and imagination through art, music, movement, singing, and creative projects. These experiences support creativity, confidence, emotional expression, and appreciation for the arts.

Movement and Gross Motor Development

Children participate in active play that helps develop balance, coordination, strength, and body awareness. Indoor and outdoor movement activities support healthy physical development and help children build confidence in using their bodies.

Social-Emotional Learning

Children learn how to understand their feelings, build friendships, share, take turns, solve conflicts, and communicate their needs. Teachers support children with gentle guidance, helping them feel safe, respected, and connected.

Character Development

We encourage children to practice kindness, respect, responsibility, patience, gratitude, and empathy. Through daily routines, stories, classroom expectations, and teacher modelling, children learn how to care for themselves, others, and their environment.

Show & Tell, Leadership, and Communication

Children are given opportunities to speak in front of their peers, share their ideas, listen to others, and build confidence in communication. These activities help children develop leadership skills, self-expression, and respect for different voices.

Kindergarten Readiness

Our program supports children in developing the skills they need for a smooth transition to kindergarten. This includes independence, following routines, listening skills, early literacy and numeracy, social skills, self-help skills, and confidence in a group learning environment.

Multilingual Learning Experience

French, Korean & Mandarin

Children are introduced to French, Korean, and Mandarin through songs, greetings, simple words, cultural activities, and playful language exposure. This program helps children experience different languages and cultures in a natural and joyful way while building curiosity and openness toward the world.
